SPRING, Texas — The Harris County Precinct 4 Constable's Office is looking for the gunman who fired shots at their police station in Spring.

Constable Mark Herman said a man opened fire a little after 12:30 p.m. on Monday outside the station in the 20000 block of Holzworth Road. According to Herman, the suspect used a rifle and the bullets were fired through the station's front lobby windows. Fortunately, no one was there during the shooting.

"Thank God there were no deputies here at this office at that time or citizens in our lobby," Herman said. "Had there been citizens sitting there waiting for deputies to arrive for various reasons, they would be [sic] killed today."

The suspect was driving the white four-door sedan seen in photos tweeted by Herman. The Constable's Office also released security footage of the shooting. Deputies are working to get the suspect's license plate and photo as well as more security video from nearby businesses.

Herman said he's not sure what led the man to shoot at the station, but he is certain that he did it on purpose.

"There's no doubt whatsoever. He specifically targeted our office," he said. "We have surveillance video that he was in the area. He was parked for a while at a different location."

The suspect will be facing multiple charges, including federal charges.
